21st and 27th April

21st and 27th April

Well we've had a couple of good weekends on Destiny, last weekend in particular was excellent and the temperature almost reached 15 degrees at one point!  Still not perfect but at least we had chance to put the canopy down.

We sailed out on the Saturday and borrowed our friends mooring in the marina next door to have the survey signed off.
All was well and we now have a few years before we need to worry about the next one.

Headed north and met up with some friends and totally lost track of time and decided to stay out for the evening but the leisure batteries decided not to play ball and there wasn't enough power to start the heater.
Nothing for it but to head back to the safety of our mooring and order another set of batteries, which was not a bad thing as we had a superb night sail giving me the chance to check out the performance of the remote control spotlight, which performed admirably.  Stern light needs repairing though.

Sunday was a great day to alter the rear cabin table set up, mounting 2x floor fixings for 2x tables was easy enough and allows us to lay the tables away in the wardrobe when not needed.

Well what a difference this weekend was to last, temperatures never got above 9 degrees and it was very cold in the wind and quite blustery too.

The rear mooring ropes were quite annoying especially when windy as they constantly make a rubbing noise around the cleat.  Yesterday I decided to fit a rear cleat to cut out the movement and removing the noise, only Starboard side done so far but Port side is in need of a few fittings to finish off.

Weather was even worse today, cold, blustery and very wet indeed.  This gave me some time to sort out a couple of small jobs in the cockpit that have been annoying me for a while.
As the floor boards were extremely large the engine and underfloor storage was very difficult to access, also, as the boards have been warped over time they had too much movement.
Cutting the three main boards in half was the best solution and 3 lift catches added for easier lifting.

The Helmsman seat has been annoying me for sometime as it was mounted on a 9 inch box.  It was a temporary solution that didn't look good and also wobbled for fun.
Box and pedestal removed and replaced the the correct size pedestal with slider.
A much neater and better solution.

After

So next weekend is the Bank Holiday, we are planning to sail out for the weekend but that is obviously weather dependant.
It would be nice to spend our first evening out on the cut so we will have to see what happens, but fingers crossed that thing must surely be improving in May????
