Saturday 23rd February

BSS check today, only really needed it in August this year, but as the licence is due at the end of March and the boat is relatively new to us I thought it better and safer to complete it early.
Gives me peace of mind to know all is well.

However all is not well, she failed her BSS!
Nothing major I'm pleased to report, just three minor faults.

1. Gas bottle pipe was way too long, curling around the tank a full 360 degrees.

2.  Number 2 battery not secured via a strap. (My own fault as it was one of the jobs I had listed to do but completely forgot).

3.  Ebespacher fuel tank unsuitable for diesel and quick release fuel pipe needed to enable refuelling off the boat.

Gas pipe was shortened within 10 minutes of getting back to the marina.
Battery was secured about 5 minutes after that, and I'm already working on replacing the heater tank.

All in all I'm very pleased and Andrew from Brayzel boats completed the survey for me without any issues.  I would highly recommend Andrew to anyone who is in need of their own BSS.

The survey did give us an excuse to come out of the marina for a short time, and the photo's below show her the very first time we've moored up on the towpath since we bought her last year.

To all the 'eagle eyes' out there, yes she does have a list toward port, but this is due to the starboard water tank still being empty and the 160 litre port fuel tank is half full.
I'm sure we need a bit more ballast in the bow but I'll have a closer look when all tanks are full.
