Sunday 17th March

Sunday 17th March

We had another good weekend with quite a lot done, mostly under the skin as it were but all necessary jobs completed.

Some good friends of ours spent a lot of time with us and together we did a full engine service along with replacement of a few engine hoses that looked original and were either split and leaking or very near to splitting.
Took some time to find the correct hoses but after driving round for about 2 hrs we found Horn garden machinery had hoses that were very close to the originals and did the job very nicely indeed.  They were about 500 yards from our marina.  Ah well I'll know next time.
Good place to do business with as they were very helpful and prices were good too.

The engine oil was very black indeed and I'm sure it was well overdue an oil change.
Perkins are good engines but won't tolerate poor oil, she always started but took a while turning over, but now she starts first time after only 15 seconds on the heater plugs when cold.  A huge improvement.

Fridge and radio

Fridge was installed and fully wired up and working, although only a small fridge there is plenty of storage space and even a little light comes on when you open the door, and besides, I can always throw out the milk and eggs etc to put more beer in if summer should arrive.

Stereo was fitted with all wiring secured under the floor, DAB and CD player all work and so does the bluetooth to link to the phones or an iPod etc.
Hands free mic installed on the dashboard for no other reason than it's flash and I like it!  But I can now 'drive' handsfree whilst on the phone too.

A good stereo all in all but one minor irritation is when you scan for DAB channels the unit loses its preset stations.  I only noticed after programming 18 stations. D'oh!
