UPDATED 9th JUNE & Sunday 19th May

Sunday 19th May

Again, not too much done this weekend, weather has been shockingly winter like with just the odd day of sunshine here and there, which leaves me with an awful lot of varnishing still to do.

I have taken some pictures this weekend of the edging strips that were varnished in the garage and I think they look very good, but the rest of the boat needs a damn good strip, sand and varnish to complete the overall look.

Never mind, we have a full week on her next week so, fingers crossed, it will be done before June arrives.

If I see anyone doing a rain dance they'd better start running.

Or swimming.

We also had a couple of days canal side this weekend, new batteries worked a treat and the Eberspacher heater worked well.

I've ordered a 7 day timer for the heater as it should give us more control than the rheostat, it may arrive before the weekend so we'll have to see, but I'm considering an external temperature sensor to install in the cabin as the internal one doesn't work well below 10 degrees, which to be fair is when you need it!
Undecided but watch this space.

A couple of pics showing the lighting on the canal bank.

Sunday 9th June

Quiet weekend (ish) for Destiny, lovely weather for the whole weekend but spent Saturday removing the decking end strips.
I had looked at replacing these for stainless steel but cost is way to much of a hinderance to be worthwhile, whilst looking at the boat with pint in hand one evening I decided she would look less 'fussy' if they were removed completely.
Easy enough to remove the old wood but more difficult to sand, fill, sand, refill, sand again and buff and polish.
It needs another buff if truth be told, but she looks much better on the starboard side with cleaner lines, and if you didn't know where to look you wouldn't think there'd been holes all the way along the edges of the decks.
Port side to be done when we next get another good weekend for weather.

That'd be 2014 then.

Starboard side rails removed, Port side still attached.

Pic added to show difference between deck strips still fitted and upper pics removed.

We were visited by one of the families of Cygnets having a ride from their mother.

We were also passed by our 'old' boat Carousel, this was the first time we've seen her out whlst we have Destiny, and the first time they are on a picture together.
It's obvious the new owners lover her as much as we do, and it's lovely to see her clean and well maintained.
